Artists can work at their own pace, from a wide range of inspiration, and enjoy critiques and patron artist meet-n-greets. Residency Host Marcene Glover guides artists toward choices for on site regional explorations, and painting sessions in Studio On7.  Paintable picturesque views at Studio On7 include historic waterways, architectural features, church steeples, industrial mills, planted throughout the mountainside foliage.

• Or for ease of travel, use Studio On7 painting and drawing materials (small fee and details to be arranged during application process). 
• The nearest art supply and fabric supply stores, Michaels' and Joanne's are about 6 miles from the ArtHouse. Marcene can take you on a materials run when needed.

Equipment:

Equipment on site for your use: H-frame easels, plein air easels, plein air umbrellas, aprons, field 3-leg chairs, studio seating and tables, drawing table with light-box table top, full spectrum flood lights, video light ring, drawing boards, maul sticks, heat guns & driers, encaustic pallet & heat element, encaustic detailing tools

Meals: 

These Residencies include Partial Meals, for convenience with the group schedule. The partial meal cost is included with lodging. Remaining meals are on your own, with restaurants, wine bars, and craft brewery conveniently close by, or grocery delivery available, for full meal prep in the ArtHouse kitchen, and dining in the Tuscan Room.

Residency Length: 

2 weeks, with opportunities for extention and exhibition.

Lodging options:

• Lodging in private bedroom studio, with shared spaces: kitchen, bathroom, art library den, deck, and courtyard.
• Lodging in private suite, including private bedroom, bathroom, living space and kitcheonette, as well as access to the shared spaces throughout the ArtHouse.

Choice of room depends on availability, so book your residency early for first choice. All rooms are pleasant, but each has its own personality, so you may discover one you feel especially restful or creative in. Check out the rooms here.

2 week Artist Residency Cost

Includes work time in Studio On7:

 Independent Artist in Residency or 

Writers Retreat at Arthouse6: 

Artists, Writers, Curators, and Performers spend time developing their portfolio or project. Living and working in the ArtHouse, immersed within the industrial-arts community provides creative thinkers with added inspiration.  

Meals: 

Meals are on your own, with restaurants, wine bars, and craft brewery conveniently close by, or grocery delivery available, for full meal prep in the ArtHouse kitchen, and dining in the Tuscan Room.

Retreat / Independent Residency Dates:

May 24-June 4

August 16-27 

Lodging options:

• Lodging in private bedroom studio, with shared spaces: kitchen, bathroom, art library den, deck, and courtyard. Cost: $650
• Lodging in private suite on floor 3, including private bedroom, bathroom, living space and kitcheonette, as well as access to the shared spaces throughout the ArtHouse. Cost: $850

ArtHouse6 supports neighboring Arts organizations, as a resource providing lodging for their visiting instructors, and presenters. 

This also provides a great opportunity for artisans, creatives, to try out the Artist's life in Johnstown...Live at the ArtHouse while working at one of the neighboring studios for metal arts, creator space, photography, galleries, performance stage...perhaps you will thrive in our Arts community and decide to relocate here. If that is your interest, ArtHouse6 will help guide you to a network of appropriate resources. 

Dates of your ArtHouse stay can be arranged to fit the project/activity dates you have planned with that Arts organization, as long as there is ArtHouse availability at that time. Please plan early to secure your preferred dates.
